My dear members, thanks to all Chairs, Co-chairs and volunteers for fantastic work in the year 2018. Our Club is very vibrant, membership is at an all time high and the bottom line is fantastic. Once again thank you. And Italian pride is in full motion

Ladies Auxiliary

Once more we have had a very busy month. On the top of my list is a huge “THANK YOU” to all who helped in any way shape or form to make our Artisan Craft Show the great success it was.  Sylvia Antinozzi, in her usual attention to detail, came through in all areas of this project.  I will not try to name every person for fear of missing even one new person who came out and worked tirelessly – from the ladies who took care of kitchen duties, selling our lunches and sweets, selling our Mamma Davedi products and collecting for the Food Bank and also the men who took care of parking.  Thanks Sylvia.

Also thanks to Louise Defonzo and Nancy Connor who hosted the spaghetti supper, and all of the volunteers who came out to help with meatballs and the supper.  What a great night with a great team.  Thanks Louise.

We are now preparing for our Christmas Bake Sale.  PLEASE respond positively when you are approached to help out by baking your favorite Christmas cookies and bringing them to the club about a week before the bake sale on Sunday Dec. 2nd. These projects are a huge factor that keep our Ladies Auxiliary alive.

This month is election time.  Congratulations to all those who have let their names stand when nominated.  All areas are very significant and important to run our Ladies Auxiliary efficiently.

Annual Grape Stomping Event on Oct 19, 2018

I would like to thank all the people who helped out at this very successful event especially Sandro Cipparone, Angela Johnston, Mike Ianiro, Joe Delfino, Anthony Nucara, Ron and Deb Lauziere and Benny Zimbalatti. ….and Vince Orlando for selling the most tickets!

From Cathy Fruci, to all the amazing Dancers in our parade again this year, a wonderful heartful thank you to several individuals from Barrie and Midland who also came up to enjoy of Grape Festival, who where invited to our event by Carman.

Christmas Dinner and Show with Natalie Aquino 

We are pleased to have the very talented vocalist Natalie Aquino providing us with an evening of wonderful entertainment including Christmas songs. November 23, 2018. Cocktails 5:45 PM. Buffet Dinner 6:30 PM. Dance to Follow. $35 Adult for Dinner and Dance. Tickets available at the Davedi Club 705.474.4190 we are at over 200 tickets sold.

DAVEDI CLUB FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Annual Family Christmas Party will be held on Sunday December 16, 2018.   Please call the Club to let us know how many people are coming and also the names and ages of members’ children or grandchildren who will be getting Santa gifts (children under 12). Let us know by December 9th so we can prepare their gifts from Santa and no child goes without. Tickets for the dinner are $15, children under 12 free. Also if any adults or children would like to perform for us, please call the Club. This is an event for members, their families and friends.

New Years Eve December 31

Prime Rib & Pasta Dinner, with DJ Johnny Miller and photo booth.  Free glass of Champagne at midnight with party favours.  Free intown Shuttle service from 11 to 1:30 am.   Please call the Club to reserve your table and tickets.  This year the tickets are $60.00 per person includes HST.

Holiday season is fast approaching and we would like to remind our members that the Davedi Club will be hosting some great events, highlighted by our members Christmas party and dinner, capped off with a 2018 New Years Eve bash! There are many other exciting events from now until then, mentioned throughout this bulletin! We hope to see you soon!

Culture

Carol singing:

Join us to go and sing a few carols to our shut-in members. December 10: meet at the Davedi at 5.00 for pizza and practice. Then we’ll try to visit 3 or 4 households. December 13 meet at Davedi at 6.00p.m. and sing at 5 or 6 more houses. Transportation provided thanks to Northern Airport Services. Call the office to register.

Davedi’s VERDI CHOIR

Calling all Singers 7 to 107 years!!

Do you like to sing? Are you interested in learning to sing Italian songs with Italian words? Want to sing with other family members and or friends? The Davedi’s VERDI CHOIR is looking for you. We are starting an intergenerational choir beginning on Tuesday January 15, 2019 from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Davedi Club under the direction of Christine Saini. There is no cost involved to join but we do ask that you call the Davedi Club (705-474-4190) to pre-register so that we have enough music ready. Should you need more information, please call Christine Saini at 705-472-8825. Please note that all children under the age of 12 yrs. MUST be accompanied by an adult. Each session will include 9 rehearsals leading up to a mini-concert. This choir is open to the whole community.

Bingo Fundraising is essential for under writing many Cultural events. We need volunteers that will step up and give assistance doing our regular Bingo’s. Please contact the office, Bingo’s are every 2ndSunday of the month from 9:15 pm to 1:15 am.  This is very important and urgent to be addressed as soon as possible.

The Davedi Order of Merit

This award recognises outstanding individuals who have volunteered their services to the community in the areas of the arts, music, sports, health, education and charities. The committee is now accepting nominations for the Order of Merit 2019. Nominations should be in the form of a letter addressed to Benito Zimbalatti at the Davedi Club. The letter should state the name and contact information of the nominee, the reasons why this person is deserving of the Order, and a brief biography.
