PRESIDENT’S MESSAGES

I’m proud to announce that our Culture Room will have a facelift. First I would like to thank long-time and always committed member Joe Urso for leading this project strictly on a volunteer basis. Of course it would not be possible without the generosity and dedication of Aldo Canarino and Carlo Guido from Rona. Construction will start in about 2 weeks. If you can help in any way it will be proudly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

Please contact Joe Urso at 249-358-0967 or me at 705-495-0967. Once completed, all Davedi archives from the past to the present (66 years) will be displayed throughout the Culture Room….pictures, books, trophies, banners.

Together we are a force, alone we are nobody.

Ladies Auxiliary President’s Message

We hope you enjoyed the Easter Season and participated in the many church services that were offered. I personally participated in many events and was moved by each one.

My thanks go, once more, to the members of the Cultural Committee for their dedicated devotion to the culture of our Italian club. Please pay attention to the many notices that they place at the club as well as newspapers etc. This work is priceless and takes many hours to create.

Report on Bread Making Course: Another very successful class in egg-bread making. We had our maximum of 10 once more and had such a wonderful afternoon of “conversation, work and tasting”. We also brought home a cooked loaf of egg bread and another to finish the baking process at home so the families can smell the pleasantries of home-made bread. We still have many persons on our list that wish to take the course and will be setting up our next session very soon. If you are interested in taking the course, please call the Davedi Club
Many thanks to Amelia Pucher and Janet Zimbalatti who made sure things ran smoothly.

We have also had interest in some baking – in particular our “biscotti”
So we probably will be setting up a class for instructions for these as well.
If anyone has ideas on other areas they would like to share with our many friends, please call Lena Fedeli – 705-472-6170 and I’m sure we can get many participants.
Thanks go out as well to the many ladies who work at our spaghetti suppers. Again, this event means a lot to the benefit of the club. Please participate if you can, by coming out for dinner or by placing your name on our volunteer list. We always need help in many areas.

Culture

Dance with North Bay group “Solid Gold” “Gruppo d’oro puro” Saturday April 28. Dinner at 6.30 followed by easy listening and dancing music. $30

Save the date: Welcome Summer party to have fun with friends (and we can celebrate the Davedi 66th Anniversary). Saturday June 23 with band Sophistoccasions from Montreal.

Past events: Italian Easter Bread: Pane Di Pasqua. Thanks to Lena Fedeli and Amella Pucher for teaching us how to make braided Easter bread in 2 sessions. We welcomed many ladies from the community who love Italian baking.

Save the date!!! Fun and games for all.

Italian Family Picnic, Festa italiana on Sunday July 22. Planning is going on now for a fine family picnic in the afternoon and evening with barbeque and live music and games in the Italian tradition. Phone me if you would like to volunteer!

I would like to thank all participants that came to the annual scopa tournament. Frank Ricciuti, Rob Perrotta, Carmine Ricciuti, Joe Delfino, Frank Nucara, Anthony Nucara, Filippo Suriano, Hector Ricciuti, Joseph Nucara, Nino Zimbalatti, Dimitri Ivanov, Julie Perrotta, Mario Perrotta, Benny Zimbalatti, Joe Urso and Nino Delfino. Congratulations to Filippo Suriano who won the championship game against Benny Zimbalatti. I would also like to thank Vince Orlando and Sandro Cipparrone who volunteered their time on that day.
Moving forward, we would like to confirm that we will be having a men’s soccer team this year! We will be posting the schedule through facebook. Come and cheer on the squad!

The annual golf tournament will be Sunday, July 15th. Details of the tournament will be confirmed shortly.

We are looking for Volunteers, interested in assisting with Club Events

We are seeking volunteers to help with our Friday Lunches, an opportunity of working with a great team. Time commitment would be from 11 am to 2 pm. Must be able to stand on your feet for the length of our service. If you like people this would be great for you as you get to meet a lot of individuals and other organizations and businesses.
