PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

My Dear Members:

I hope you had a wonderful Family Day long weekend.

As you know, the Davedi Club monthly General Supper Meetings are mandated by our Constitution and By-Laws. Recently, the turn-out for these meetings has been far less than ideal. In order for these meetings to continue on the same basis we need you, the Members of the Davedi Club, to attend. So please come, bring a friend, enjoy the fellowship, ask questions and bring your ideas forward at these important gatherings. I truly hope to see all of you at the next General Dinner Meeting on Thursday February 25th.

MEMBERSHIPS FOR 2016

Please remember to renew your membership for 2015. You can either pay at the office which is open from 9 – 5:30 every weekday or you can send in a cheque by mail (payable to “Davedi Club”). Please make sure you include all your contact information, including your e- mail address.

DEADLINE IS TUESDAY MARCH 31st 2015 to renew or register for membership.

CULTURE COMMITTEE

Latin Swing

Thanks to all who came to make the evening with Lina Sanchioni such a success last week, good food, good company, great dancing and renewed friendships with musicians from Sudbury. Special thanks to emcee Louise Defonzo, committee members Adele Williams on the door and Sandro Cipparrone for bingo fundraising and all other volunteers.

Italian Language Learning

The website www.newsinslowitalian.com has a very very useful section for Intermediate language learners. Check out the demonstration lesson. If you are interested in subscribing, please call Phillip….we can get a really good Davedi Club deal for you.

The sensational Juno Award Winning Dominic Mancuso Group will come to the Davedi Club following a European tour. Dominic is a singer, musician, composer and producer from Toronto with roots in Italy and multi-lingual compositions influenced by world culture.

SPORTS

In January, the Davedi Club hosted a live viewing of WWE Royal Rumble in the Verdi Room. We would like to thank those who attended this event! We look forward to a bigger crowd for the much anticipated Wrestlemania event in March.

On February 7th, the main hall was used to show the Superbowl live on the big screen. The event had a great turn out once again! We would like to thank those who brought food and took part in the night’s festivity.

On Sunday, February 28th we will be hosting a Scopa tournament for all members as well as anyone in the public. Cost of entry into the tournament is $5.00 (snacks included). Registration closes on Thursday, February 25th. Please sign up in the office ahead of time.

Lastly, I would like to thank my committee of hard worker’s and volunteers that have helped organized these events.
