PRESIDENT’S MESSAGES

My Dear Members,

It is with my deepest sympathies that I would like to acknowledge the passing of our long – time friends (and family to many of us), Joe D’Agostino and Vito Battagaglia. Their absence is felt and will continue to be felt for a long time.

I am happy to share with you the following note, and doing so express my own appreciation, which was recently received by the office from Lena Fedeli:

February 10 Chestnuts and Stories.

“A huge “THANK YOU’ to Janet & Benito Zimbalatte and Sandro Cipparone for the well executed Friday night event of “Italian hand gestures and chestnuts” Also thanks to Domenic Mascioli for his “Castagna in Italy” stories as well as to Joe Urso and Janet for their entertaining reading of “The Little World of Don Camillo” (“Mondo Piccolo – Don Camillo” ) by Giovanni Guareschi. Also special thanks to Janet for her film and help with the “Italian Gestures”. What fun that was.

“Many thanks for the well attended event with all the good food, chestnuts and laughs. Even the bad weather did not stop you from participating. It is efforts like this that makes one proud to be associated with the Davedi Club.”

I hope to see and share a meal with all of you at our next General Meeting on February ,

Saluti,

Vince Orlando,
President Davedi Club

Ladies Auxiliary President’s Message:

Our ladies are gearing up to a fantastic convention in late September. Thank you Nella for taking on this huge task and thank you to the team that Nella has chosen.
We are all ready to rock and roll.

Another successful spaghetti supper was held in January. Please take note at this time that our spaghetti supper for February will be on the 19th since several of the ladies will be going on the Sudbury day trip play “Moose on the Loose” .We are anticipating a fun day and a fun show.
On a completely different note – I was browsing through some of my late husband Hub’s Davedi files and came across a very interesting “Davedi Club Oath” by Giuliano Celebre. I found this deserving of sharing it with you ,,,,

*”I will use my energy and spirit, integrity, new enthusiasm and positive outlook to help overcome any club obstacles and to assist in promoting, strengthening relationships with fellow club members and within that community of North Bay.
*I will act in the best interest of the Club, performing actions with inspiration helping to promote our Italian Heritage and assist the Club in continuing to strive and grow.
*As Executive Members of the Davedi Club, we shall continuously look for new ways of seeing, understanding and communicating. We shall be worthy members reaching out to support our fellow members; avoiding confrontation to the best of our ability, listening to the needs of our fellow members, empathizing, apologizing and remaining accountable for our actions.
*We shall be gentle with ourselves and bring laughter and joy to others.

I think this would also be good to implement in our day to day living.
Your comments, suggestions and input is always welcome.
We would like to send our prayers to Louise Defonzo for a speedy recovery on her knee surgery. Get well soon Louise – we miss you….

Lena Fedeli,
Ladies Auxiliary to the Davedi Club President
