PRESIDENT’S MESSAGES

Please join us for fellowship and good meal for all the family at the General meeting on Thursday February 22.

Congratulations go out to the dedicated Culture Committee for a beautiful event which took place on February 3 with organetto player Claudio Santaluce. It was a fantastic evening of dancing, reminiscing and celebrating a piece of our beautiful culture.

Please come out to future events!

President Davedi Club

Ladies Auxiliary President’s Message

I am very proud of all the ladies who have stepped up to the plate and offered their services for the Italian cultural events of this year. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful to the 10 ladies who volunteered at the Chestnuts event and to the 7 who volunteered for Claudio Santaluce night. As always, thanks for the hard work of our members for the spaghetti supper in January, a popular Italian outreach and service in our community. It is your support for these events which really show how serious we are about the Italian traditions in our community.
Just a recap of the many events in the offing:

Embroidery workshop on Feb. 26 thanks to Cathy Fruci and Pina Celebre. $4
Movie and pizza night, March 23, classic spaghetti western “For a Fistful of Dollars”. $10
Baking workshop on March 27th. Baking will be Easter Bread. We’ll be able to bring home some samples. $4
Dances in April and September, tickets only $30.00 which includes one of our full course meals and dancing.
Italian language classes are planned for April and May
Italian history night is in the planning as well.
Scopa tournament has also been talked about.
We are planning an Italian Family Picnic in July. Sorry, we can’t have a greasy pole at the picnic. Safety experts talk about how people fall off greasy poles!
If you have any ideas or suggestions about these plans, please give Janet or me a call. 705-840-5157 (Janet), 705-472-6170 (Lena)
These are all excellent ideas, and with your ideas and input, we will have many more celebrations of our Italian culture supported by our fellowship in the Ladies Auxiliary.

Our Claudio Santaluce event, which was held on Saturday, Feb. 3, was a huge success. Claudio had everyone up and dancing, keeping up to the fast pace of his excellent choice of music. Even I stayed late to enjoy watching and joining in on the excitement. I can truly say “A good time was had by all.” Thank you all for your continued support.

Humour:
“People want the front of the bus, the back of the church, and the centre of attention”.
