Ladies Auxiliary

As I write this entry Old Man Winter is rearing its ugly head, causing cancellations all around our community; consequently, both Ladies’ Auxiliary meetings have been cancelled. Thanks to the understanding, flexibility and cooperation of our lady members, be it the telephone committee, or the executive, it appears we haven’t skipped a beat. After numerous phone calls and emails to alert members of the cancellation we are well on our way to organizing another day of meatball making, to be followed by our Spaghetti Supper which will be held Sunday, February 24th. Thanks to Nicolina and to Sylvia for volunteering to be convenors and, to their crews for their hours of service. You all help to make this function a success! I’m happy to report that Anne Bentley, Reiki Practitioner and Yoga Instructor who, was to be our presenting visitor at the ladies’ February meeting, has graciously consented to reschedule for March 12th. Thanks, Anne!

The ladies of Sault Ste. Marie are gearing up to host the 2019 convention – to be held on Oct. 18th, 19th and 20th. The chosen theme – Under the Tuscan Sun. Ladies, please note this change in dates and mark your calendars. This change, and reasons for, will be discussed at the March meeting. No doubt the Sault ladies appreciate your understanding and support, as do I.

Last but not least, I congratulate our very own, Louise Defonzo, one of the recipients of this year’s Order of Merit Awards. A long time member of our club she has volunteered her time and energy not only here at the Davedi but around our community also. Congratulations to Louisa!Fino alla prossima volta….buone cose! 

Mentre scrivo questa voce, Old Man Winter sta allevando la sua brutta testa, causando cancellazioni in tutta la nostra comunità; di conseguenza, i nostri incontri sono stati cancellati. Grazie alla flessibilità e alla collaborazione de membri del nostro gruppo femminile, sembra che non abbiamo saltato un battito. Dopo numerose telefonate ed emails per avvisare i membri della cancellazione, siamo sulla buona strada per organizzare un’altra giornata di produzione di polpette, seguita dalla nostra Cena degli Spaghetti che si terrà domenica 24 febbraio. Grazie a Nicolina ed a Sylvia per aver offerto di essere convenors e anche alle loro equipaggi, per le loro ore di servizio. Tutti contribuite a rendere questa funzione un successo!Sono felice di annunciare che Anne Bentley, Reiki Practitioner e Yoga Instructor, che doveva essere la nostra ospite di presentazione all’incontro femminile di febbraio, ha dichiarato che sarà lieta di presentare alla riunione di marzo. Grazie, Anne!

Le signore di Saulte Ste. Marie si sta preparando per ospitare la convention del 2019 – che si terrà il 18, 19 e 20 ottobre. Il tema scelto – Under the Tuscan Sun. Signore, ti preghiamo di notare questo cambio di date e segnare i tuoi calendari. Questo cambiamento sarà discusso durante la riunione di marzo. Senza dubbio le signore di Saulte apprezzano la tua comprensione e il tuo sostegno, così come lo sono io.
Un promemoria per uscire e unirsi al nostro coro VERDI Davedi guidato da Christine Saini. Si tiene ogni martedì alle 19:00 (eccetto il secondo martedì di ogni mese.)

Finalmente, vorrei congratulare Louise Defonzo, una dei destinatari dell’Ordine al Merito 2019. Lei è da molto tempo membro del nostro gruppo, ed ha offerto volontariamente il suo tempo e le sue energie non solo qui al Davedi ma anche nella nostra comunità. Congratulazioni a Louisa!

Fundraiser

Blue Spruce Reunion featuring Paul Pruneau and the Journeymen is on Feb 23 doors open 8 p.m. $25 tickets are very popular so get your’s soon. This is a “Joe Pave” fundraiser ….the money raised will go towards extending the paving in the Davedi parking lot. Thanks to the Committee: Vince Orlando chair, Joe Delfino, Dave Zimbalatti, Anthony Nucara and Ed Valenti.

Scopa Tournament

On behalf of the sports committee, we are planning to have the Annual Scopa Tournament Sunday March 10th @ 1pm until 5pm. It’s a Free Event open to members and friends. Snacks and Coffee will be available. The defending champion from 2018 is Filippo Suriano. We’ll see who will become Davedi’s 2019 Annual Scopa Champion

On behalf of the marketing committee, we are excited to announce that we are in the process of collecting pictures for the Italian Pride Newsletter. If you have any pictures that you wish to share, please send them to the Davedi Club office at your earliest convenience.

As part of the marketing committee, we hope to develop and provide innovative ideas that will continue to help the Davedi Club grow in our community. Areas such as Mamma Davedi, Membership, Official Website, Social Media, and Davedi Club merchandise are a few of the areas we want to continue to target for this year! With your continued support, we feel as though this will be an exciting year for our members as well as for our community of North Bay! Please feel free to reach out to any Director if you wish to join a committee.
