PRESIDENT’S MESSAGES

Buon Anno a tutti.
We celebrate our pride in our Italian culture in all the activities we do in this Club. Please read the positive article about the Italians in North Bay which is attached to this bulletin. It is from the December 2017 issue of the Panoram Italia Toronto Magazine pages 40 and 41. https://issuu.com/panoramitalia/docs/toronto_dec- jan_1-72_for_web

Come out to our General meeting on January 25. We hope all our Members and Ladies Auxiliary members come out. Bring a friend, bring a family member. Tickets are 2 persons for $25 for this meeting.
Thanks to all our volunteers and members who make this club so successful.

Vince Orlando,
President Davedi Club

Ladies Auxiliary President’s Message

I hope you all have had a very happy holiday and have survived the cold.
We have just come through a very, very busy year for which I am so proud of those of you who have made this possible for our Ladies Auxiliary. Through our spaghetti suppers and bake sale, you told the community about the wonderful
heritage of Italian food. Through greeting people at the convention and the artisans’ sale, you showed North Bay about the welcoming Italian heritage. What a great social club for us ladies in this auxiliary. We enjoy the friendship, but we also have a greater purpose. This is in our constitution: to carry out activities which promote the Italian Heritage in the fields of Education, Music and Sports.
When I gave serious thought about this, I realized that many of us need to remind ourselves about why we are here in the first place. We are here to maintain the Italian Culture. We have many members who are not of Italian origin, but love the Italian Culture. We welcome all with open arms.

How can we all work to show North Bay about our Italian heritage?
I want to ask you to come up with some ways of helping. We’d love your own ideas….or you could come and enjoy an event…..or come and help:
Italian heritage in music: We need some volunteers for Claudio Santaluce accordion night to serve the supper and stay and enjoy the night on February 3. Cost $20.
Italian Heritage through cooking and sewing: We are trying to put together a couple of craft nights. Please let me know if you could help with an embroidery night or a night to make Easter bread.
Italian Family Picnic: Would you help us plan this event for one Sunday in July and come out and help make it a success?

We have a ways and means committee and a cultural committee within the club who work to promote our culture through interesting events. We need to know what events will bring your family or your friends into the Club so we can showcase Italian Culture. Please tell us.

So my question is: How can we all help with activities which promote the Italian Heritage in the fields of Education, Music and Sports?
Please call me, Lena 705-472-6170. Thank you.

Ways and Means

Salute. Felice 2018!
I’d like to report on three successful events in the last months of 2017.

Grape Stomping celebration was in October and 180 people had a wonderful night…good food and good fun and purple feet. Thanks to Mike Ianiro, Alfredo Celebre and Dominic Mascioli for their help.
The Family Christmas party was on December 17. 200 people came and Santa was a great success, the bouncy castle was a blast and families and friends were very sociable. Thanks to Sabrina Giustra, Louise Defonzo for their assistance. In particular we again wish to recognise our 2017 Davedi honorees, appreciated for their membership and volunteerism: Alfredo Celebre, Pina Celebre, Mariano Cirullo, Cathy Fruci, Adriano Santarossa, Emelia Pessotto, Giuseppe Pavone.
New Years Eve was a sold out event for the Davedi Club, and people celebrated with a great show from DJ Johnny Miller.
Very special thanks to Sandro Cipparone, our first Vice-President for his amazing and sustained volunteer work for all these three events. These events would not have been possible without the hard work of our President Vince Orlando. In addition the Zimbalattis were involved in planning. I thank all these people.
