President`s Message

My Dear Members,

My deepest condolences go out to Jim and Cathy Marmino for the loss of their loved ones. Our hearts are with you. I wish to also express my condolences to the family and friends of our long- time member, Michael Edwards, who recently passed away. We shall all miss him.

My best wishes go out to Honourary member, and my brother-in-law, Joseph D’Agostino. We hope you get well soon.
A big “thank you” to the Davedi Club Steering Committee, Jim Marmino, Janet Zimbalatti, Adele Williams, Louise Defonzo, Cathy Fruci, David Zimbalatti, and their committees in carrying out activities which promote our Italian Heritage in the fields of education, music, and sports. I would also like to thank all the Ladies and Men who volunteer for the spaghetti suppers, Friday lunches, Grape Stomping, Golf Tournament, Wine Gala, and more. All of you are the reason our Club is strong, alive and well.

Finally, I wish to acknowledge our management and staff for their continued professional service.

Sports Committee

The Sports Committee is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Northland Wrestling to provide live wrestling at the Davedi Club on Saturday, February 4th. Details of the event will be determined soon. The event will be open to the public as well as our members. Food will be served and the bar will be open to the public.

Our next meeting will be a Christmas Dinner Meeting on December 13th. Cocktails will be at 6pm followed by dinner at 6:30pm. Tickets are $12. Please let your telephone committee member know if you can attend by Dec 2nd.

The Bake Sale is on December 4th from 10am to 12:30pm. I hope you can make it out for some delicious homemade Italian pastries!

Our October Spaghetti Supper was a huge success! We sold out within 2 hours of opening the doors, selling more dinners and takeout in that time than we typically do over 3 hours, resulting in our highest revenue in the past 2 years! A big thank you to all the volunteers! We hope you can make it out to the November Spaghetti Supper. Reservations are available for seating between 4- 5pm.
A special thank you to the Ladies of the 2016 Ladies Auxiliary Executive, you have all been a pleasure to work with this year.

Message from Ladies Aux. Craft Show Convenors:
Once again the Ladies Auxiliary hosted their annual Artisans Craft Show. Nancy, May and I were very pleased with the turn out, and to all who supported in making this a success.

We would like to thank the Davedi Tea/Café Room convenors Sylvia Antinozzi and Lavinia Eberhardt who led the Ladies Aux. to donate, make, bake, and prepared delicious food to sell during the weekend. Thank you to the ladies who worked the front door as greeters, helped with the packing of food for the Food Bank, and to the men who volunteered their time as our Parking Attendants. Thank you to Phillip, and to Mike & his crew for their assistance with set up and cleaning.

The Food Bank drive was back again and people who attended the show, donated 700 pounds of food, and $1156.85 in cash. All was donated to the North Bay Food Bank. Awesome! What a way to give back to our North Bay community ladies!!

Culture Committee

January 27 6p.m. On the Big Davedi Screen “A Fistful of Dollars” (Un pugno di dollari). Pizza meal $10.00. This is the first Italian spaghetti Western, with Clint Eastwood and haunting music by Ennio Morricone.
Feb 10 Chestnuts and Stories. Italian finger food and all you can eat chestnuts $10.00. Practice speaking without words with the documentary “Italian Hand Gestures”.

Feb 26 Bus trip to meet our own Gerry Mendicino at the Sudbury Theatre Centre. Gerry will welcome us to a play called “Moose on the Loose”, a comedy loosely based on the stories of an Italian Immigrant family in Northern Ontario. Tickets $55 include the show, a meal at the Caruso Club and gratuities. Free bus transportation courtesy of Davedi Club. Leaving at 11.30 a.m. returning after supper.

Sandro Cipparone Benito Zimbalatti

This past Saturday, November 12, the Davedi Club Culture Committee hosted a concert featuring Italian-American Tenor, Aaron Caruso.

He was accompanied by Joshua Pride, tenor and Marilyn Sutherland at the keyboard. The event was very well attended. It was a wonderful event.

We would like to thank Jim and Cathy Marmino and Sandro Cipparrone for co-chairing the event. As well, we would like to thank Janet Zimbalatti and Sylvia Antinozzi for the design of tickets and poster.
