Come out to a Davedi event soon! Our Executive, our members and staff work hard to be welcoming in the Italian tradition and fulfil the Constitution mandate of promoting strong social and cultural ties.

GENERAL MEETING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 23. It’s a great night out. Italian fellowship, great food and comedy on the big screen. All members are very welcome: bring a guest. All Ladies Auxiliary members are welcome: bring a guest.

Ladies Auxiliary President’s Message

Once more we have had a very busy month.

On the top of my list is a huge “THANK YOU” to all who helped in any way shape or form to make our Artisan Craft Show the great success it was. Sylvia Antinozzi, in her usual attention to detail, came through in all areas of this project. I will not try to name every person for fear of missing even one person who came out and worked tirelessly – from the men who took care of parking and the ladies who took care of kitchen duties, selling our lunches and sweets, selling our Mamma Davedi products and also collecting for the Food Bank. What more could we have asked for. Thank you, thank you, to all.

The amazing thing of all this is that the Ladies Auxiliary just finished with hosting our very successful 54th Convention which was headed by Nella Verardi and which took the best part of a year in planning. Thank you so much Nella.

We are now preparing for our Christmas Bake Sale. PLEASE respond positively when you are approached to help with baking for our Dec. 3rd bake sale OR bake your favourite Christmas cookies for our sale.

These projects as well as our monthly spaghetti suppers keep our Ladies Auxiliary alive. My goodness ladies, you are just like the rabbits whose batteries never quit.

To those of you who are unable to participate in the physical aspect of the Davedi Club, we could always use some fresh ideas that may be of interest to the club. Please think about it.

Plans are in the making for our Christmas Party on Tuesday, Dec. 12th. We are looking forward to an enjoyable evening with you all.

A Bit of Humour:

A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn’t find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: “I have circled the block 10 times. If I don’t park here, I will miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses.”

When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note: “I have circled this block for 10 years. If I don’t give you a ticket, I will lose my job. Lead us not into temptation.”

Davedi History Project
Thanks to over 100 people who made the evening of November 10 memorable for family and fellowship as we heard the immigration and settlement stories of Santo and Anna Scarfone and Jim Marmino.

Upcoming events:

Chestnuts and stories Friday January 19 6p.m. Italian finger food and all-you-can-eat roast chestnuts $10. Then…. Stories about the Power of Three, Il Potere del Tre. Call the office to reserve your meal.

Claudio Santaluce Saturday February 3 2018 “A Taste of True Italian Tradition” Claudio plays a vast repertoire of Italy’s most cherished songs, including vibrant tarantellas and exuberant polkas. 5.30 p.m. Italian Dinner $20.00. Cash Bar. 7p.m. Show and dancing. Tickets at the office.
