Special Spaghetti Supper and General Meeting
You are invited to a special spaghetti supper and the General Meeting of the Davedi Club on Nov 28 at 7 p.m. Because there is an important guest speaker, there is no cost for supper to you, your family or your guests.
The Italian-Canadian immigration experience is a vital aspect of the culture of the members of the Davedi Club. On this occasion you will hear guest speaker Paola Breda who will introduce her book “Land of Triumph and Tragedy”.
This is a detailed history including the previously untold stories of thousands of Italian Fallen Workers who died building this beautiful country. It is a story destined to become a new piece of Canadian history, honoring the extraordinary efforts and vast contributions of Italian immigrants to Canada. Paola Breda’s book will be available for purchase or loan from the Club.
We encourage all members to come, and especially to bring their families so all generations can be informed about the sacrifices of their fore-fathers. Please call the Manager at the Davedi Club by November 24 with the number of people coming so we can prepare enough Food – event is general admission no assigned tables Email email@example.com or phone 705-474-4190
Congratulations to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Davedi Club for attending the NOILA Convention in Sault Sainte Marie. I’m delighted you all had a wonderful time and I’m strongly behind this great event. I cannot wait until the Davedi Club hosts Convention this event in the future.
The Club has been very busy. Our Culture Room has been remodelled and revamped, the bocce court is finished and the Davedi Verdi Choir is coming along tremendously. Our club events are all successful and the business bookings are going well.
In closing on Nov 28 at our General Dinner Meeting we welcome special guest, author Paola Breda, talking about the book “Land of Triumph and Tragedy”. I urge everyone to come out for a spaghetti supper, courtesy of the Club, and very interesting history insight into the culture of Italian immigration to Canada.
Lest we forget!
Remembrance Day was last weekend and I’d like to take this opportunity to pay tribute and thank all men and women who serve(d) their country in wartimes so the we could enjoy living in freedom.
On a other note the Davedi Ladies travelled to the Soo for the annual N.O.I.L.A. Convention weekend and had a positive, memorable and fun filled weekend.
In the first weekend of November the ladies hosted our annual Christmas Artisan/Craft Show and Cafe. In un’altra nota, le Davedi Ladies hanno viaggiato a Sault Ste. Marie per l’annuale N.O.I.L.A. Ci siamo divertiti tanto. Il fine settimana e stato positivo e memorabile.
Nel primo fine settimana di novembre le donne hanno ospitato il nostro Artisan / Craft Show e Cafe annuale. Film Flowers of Saint Francis Film will be shown at the Davedi Club on Friday November 15 at 7 p.m. No admission charge. For members, families and friends. All welcome. “In a series of simple and joyous vignettes, director Roberto Rossellini and co-writer Federico Fellini lovingly convey the universal teachings of the People’s Saint: humility, compassion, faith, and sacrifice. Gorgeously photographed to evoke the medieval paintings of Saint Francis’s time, and cast with monks from the Nocera Inferiore Monastery.”

Ancora piccoletto mia mamma mi parlava di Te,
Thanks to Cathy Fruci, Culture, for choosing this poetry
